The new format is
meeting with approval from the outdoor industry, reports delighted trade show
designers OUTDOOR Friedrichshafen from Lake Constance. Small and medium
manufacturers will be making their way to Friedrichshafen from 17 to 19
September 2019 to meet specialist bricks-and-mortar retailers from the
German-speaking markets to start gearing up for the 2020 season. “The
completely new concept, with dedicated offers, full flexibility, committed
efficiency, plus genuine and authentic themes and a fitting atmosphere, is
being welcomed by many industry players,” says CEO Messe Friedrichshafen Klaus
Friedrichshafen is draws on over 25 years of experience with the outdoor
business for the new format OUTDOOR Friedrichshafen. And yet the organisers are
focussing firmly on the future, rather than looking back to the past. Head of
OUTDOOR Stefan Reisinger explains: “We are completely rethinking the whole trade
show idea from scratch. We firmly believe in bricks-and-mortar retail and are
offering a down-to-earth platform for all companies who embody the outdoor
spirit. We are now the underdog and understand that a new start takes time and
requires intensive consultation. We are optimistic about the facts: brands are
seeing that a successful trade show presence is possible with a modest budget and
only minimal advance planning and that regional commercial representation can
benefit instead of international management. Manufacturers are looking at how they
can benefit from the new outdoor show format.
The new concept is
meeting with approval for its modular structure with ‘full- board’ at the trade
fair for exhibitors’ staff and retailers. This includes complimentary catering
for exhibitors and trade visitors during the two-and-and-a-half day event.
Large and differently designed lounge islands inside the halls will provide the
central meeting point for networking, eating and drinking. OUTDOOR Friedrichshafen
will have a circuit arrangement in the eastern section of the exhibition
grounds, occupying four halls (A6, A7, B4, B5), the Foyer and Open-Air Grounds
as well as the Conference Centre.
The new OUTDOOR Friedrichshafen concept is being well-received by the retail trade. The show’s scheduling at the end of the main retail sales season and focus on the core outdoor hardware segment and German-speaking markets is winning over national and international retailers. For example, Peter Bruggmann, President Swiss Association of Sporting Goods Retailers (ASMAS) says: “We see the Friedrichshafen trade fair concept as a good opportunity for our retailers and have enjoyed coming to Lake Constance for years.” There will also be greater focus on professional education and knowledge transfer in Friedrichshafen. The comprehensive training and further education programme covers all aspects of a successful sell-out – from sales marketing and merchandise management, to tips for pricing and store design.
The idea of
communicating with the retail trade is also enjoying success in the media.
Leading German-speaking specialist magazines from the industry have already
recognised the new platform’s potential and will also be reporting on the
issues from Friedrichshafen in 2019.
Strong partners in the caravanning & camping sectors
addition to classic outdoors sports, OUTDOOR Friedrichshafen is also
introducing new initiatives with the related caravan and camping segment.
Freedom and flexibility and independence from infrastructures plays an
important role for outdoor fans. In the new Caravanning exhibition area,
outdoor and leisure retailers will encounter a comprehensive product spectrum
that spans from camping buses and motorhomes to the latest trends in mobile
camping accessories. Prominent market player, the Hymer Group is participating
for the first time as an active exhibitor with three brands at OUTDOOR
Friedrichshafen: “Hymercar”, the inventor of the motorhome will be showcasing
its portfolio of comfortable camper vans; “Movera” is a provider of complete
solutions for camping and caravanning with over 100 brands; “3DOG camping” is a
dedicated specialist manufacturer of folding tent trailers and rooftop tents.
Furthermore, the firmly-established and widely-appreciated “Eriba City”
continues in 2019. Situated just three minutes’ walk from the East Entrance,
visitors to the show can book in at the caravan city for the perfect
combination of hotel standard comfort and relaxed camping outdoor flair. “Now
with over 850 caravans, our twelve-year partnership with Messe Friedrichshafen
has become a permanent fixture on the Hymer calendar. We are delighted to be
able to continue to offer the outdoor audience a unique and comfortable
accommodation option,” explains Rudi Fimpel, Divisional Manager Eriba Caravans.
